What's one more?
The "Visit"
Today my husband (Mr. Cat Tree!)  and I went to “visit” our vets Cat & Kitten Adoption day!
The vets office usually has 2-3 office kitties that seem to live there permanently.  But today was different! A full kitty con of adoptable lovelies.  Who wouldn’t want to surround themselves with 20 plus cats on a sunny weekend?  So off we went to visit and support our local pet rescue Pet Protectors League (petprotectorsleague@gmail.com)  We had a lot of other chores to do that day so our time would need to be limited!  Always lots to do at Domi & Frisk, even on the weekends.  I think you all know where this is going… a planned 20 min trip turned into a two hour  ”visit”.  The amazing volunteers at Pet Protectors League let us hold each kitty individually in a private room. We meet the two black and white sisters; Oreo and Inky. And the long hair super fluffy grey tabby Aristotle. Such a calm and sweet personality. He sat on my lap as content as can be, as if we were long lost friends.  There was a tortoise shell named Jack and three black kittens, all with unique personalities and interesting markings. They also had two older disabled cats named Wiggles and Wobbles. These two sweet boys apparently were born to a mom who had distemper.  Distemper is a virus that attacks rapidly dividing cells.  And in the case of Wiggles and Wobbles, the virus attacked their cerebellums while in mom’s belly. Meaning when they were born their brains and central nervous systems were affected. This resulted in an extreme lack of coordination and balance.  Neither one of them could walk across the floor without slipping or without their legs slipping out from under them.  It was so sad to watch, but also amazing in that these two heroes pushed on despite their physical limitations.  Right then and there I was ready to either adopt them on the spot and or go on a crusade to inform the public about the absolute need for immunizations!  After a lengthy conversation with the gals from Pet Protectors,  they also recommended that these two belong in a carpeted house. Preferably with no dogs as it would be easy for them to get hurt either sliding on a hard floor or accidentally trampled by a large dog! Finding the right owner would be the key to a long and healthy life for these kitties.  I was confident that the staff would ensure this would happen for these two special kitties as one of the volunteers had a disabled cat that lived a long and happy life with her for 20 years!

Finally, down to the last kitty to visit with, Jazzy.  A small, inquisitive black cat with big yellow eyes.  She was the last of a litter of 6 to be adopted. None of the staff could quite figure out why she had not yet been adopted. She was healthy, happy and well adjusted. The minute we brought her in the room she jumped up on my lap and purred. After little prompting she hopped on Dave’s lap.  And back to mine.  This continued for about five minutes.  I’m not sure who was more amused us or Jazzy. We all played for about 20 minutes.  My husband looked at me with the look of a child  "Can we get her?  We'd be giving her a great home?"  Needless to say, Jazzy is now part of the Domi & Frisk crew!   Happily living in our home now for 4 days!   She has not been introduced to the other kitties, I'll tell you all about our guaranteed success kitty integration process in our next post!
